Just got a bit of highlighting and shades done tonight. Just wanted to post some progress pics. Now, just the dreaded magenta to learn!

Airbrushing Blackstone Fortress Terrain Part 4
Well... I'm starting up a bunch more tiles. Mostly that turquoise hue, but now there will be some magenta OSL coming in.
I only had time to do the greys up... and I'll tackle the colours another night.
The other thing that has come up is that I own 3 airbrushes... Badger Patriot, Patriot Xtreme, Sotar. I don't need 3, but I got the Patriot and Sotar on Badger's annual birthday sale for $55 USD each. I already had an Xtreme.
I used the Xtreme for my airbrushing course with CK Studios and it worked great for a mid-sized model like a contemptor dreadnought, but it's not very handy for terrain. Do I keep it for those times when I need a middle of the road airbrush... or do I sell it and re-invest the money into hobby funds. I'm leaning towards selling the Xtreme... we'll see how it goes.

All the finished tiles just put together. I notice that the light sources might not always match up, but I hope the game cards have already taken that into consideration. If I feel motivated, I'll do a bit more detail work later.
The current tiles with the grey tones complete.

Airbrushing Blackstone Fortress Terrain Part 3
I got a bit more tiles done tonight.
I decided to keep to the turquoise tiles that I've had some success on (I already re-primed those sepia tiles! Will try those later). I also tried out some bigger tiles that had those colours. I enjoyed playing with the light source that the tiles used. Essentially, I've tried to just copy the cardboard tiles and apply them to the printed tiles
Below are some photos of comparisons. I'm pretty happy with most of them (not sure about the two sets of stairs though). I'm not sure if the white balance in my photos is great since the only light source is my lamps given the time of night. You'll get the idea!

Airbrushing Blackstone Fortress Terrain Part 2
Well, I've been madly spray can priming all the terrain. I'm almost done and I've gone through 2 cans of primer.
I started testing out some of the tiles for Blackstone Fortress. These are mostly extra tiles and I decided to go with the turquoise floor theme.
I sprayed a base of Vallejo anthracite grey with a highlight of sea grey and then wolf grey. I put a filter of Vallejo turquoise and built it up.
For the rocks, I shaded with a mix of anthracite grey and Daler Rowney's Payne's Grey.
I tried highlighting the chaos symbols with Daler Rowney Sepia, but I'm not sure if I like it.
I'm happy with the rocks and the turquoise though. Will keep trucking!

Airbrushing Blackstone Fortress Terrain Part 1
Step 1: Priming
I had to start priming black. It took a long time and I'm second-guessing whether I want to commit to this given the amount of terrain I printed! It is late, so maybe it's just that.
I noticed that I'm spraying some water out of the brush, so I may have some condensation built up in the hose. I also decided that I'm going to use up my Vallejo primer before the Stynylrez. I want to save that primer for my models over terrain.
I also have no paper towels in the house! How annoying! I also need to buy a bent tip water bottle and some proper isopropanol.
My big bucket of terrain
What I managed to prime in an hour or so
As an update the next day, there is no bloody way I'll be priming these with an airbrush as it will take me all year! I'll be using a rattle can and I already got a bunch done in 2 minutes!

Introduction
Hey to those reading this....
So, at somewhat of an invitation to a Facebook group, I have started this blog to chronicle my progress with airbrushing. I recently completed CK Studios' 101 class, and I have learned a lot! Time to put it to use.
A bit about myself:
- I'm an elementary teacher from BC, Canada
- I've been playing 40k since 2001 (3rd ed)
- I play Eldar, Necrons, Crimson Fists (Space Marines), Orks, collecting some Dark Angels, want to start Ashen Claws
- I also play X-Wing, and I'm trying to get into Blood/Blitz Bowl, Star Wars Legion, Blackstone Fortress
- I have young kids, so I don't get to play much at all and my painting is limited to late nights
I'm attaching some progress photos from the 101 course.
Later,
Lane
