Blitz Bowl - Killanelfia Eagles Part 1

Well, it's time to take care of the other half of the Blitz Bowl set. I have a backlog of these teams, so best get on it.

I have two human teams, so one will be modelled after the Philadephia Eagles (because of the logo) and I think the other one will be the Atlanta Falcons.

I decided to try out the away uniforms for the Eagles since that's what they wore the last time I saw them play on TV last week (I'm a Seahawks fan in reality, but I'm saving that scheme for the elves team).

I started with black primer, than a 45° zenithal spray of grey primer, followed by a top down of white. This will allow me to have some differentiation in the white (while most of it being grey). That's the theory anyway. I'll brush on the forest green on the pants with a brush.

I'm going with the middle scheme

Necron Flayed Ones

These were super easy... not necessarily quick, but not much thinking involved. I'm not sure if I like the flayed skin... I wasn't sure I should add blood or these guys have had the skins for a while. Since I have little kids, I went with the latter.

Necron Indomintus Overlord Part 2

Well, it's been a long time since I last painted this guy.  I am out of practise - especially on the edge high-lighting. I just have the sand to dry and then I can dry brush it to finish it all off.

Off-Task - Bunk Beds

It's been a long, long time since I posted. I wish I could say I've been painting models, but I've had another project on the go... I've been building a bunk bed for my daughters

I'm not a carpenter and I've never done anything like this before, so it's taken me a lot longer than I thought. I think it turned out okay though!

Necron Indomintus Overlord Part 1

Just as a quick in-between-er, I started this overlord.

I sold off most of my 40k models, but kept enough around for multiple Kill Team armies. I thought that having a different overlord model might work out okay if I could get it for cheap off of eBay.

I've done this scheme so many times, it's just automatic to me now. I just finished blocking in the base colours and I got a wash on. Just highlights to go. Necrons are so fast!

Warpgate Dice Tower Part 2

I deepened the shadows a bit more and then really pushed the highlights with my Krome airbrush. Then I used Vallejo's Ultramarine as a filter (really water-downed) and softened the highlights to a blue. Then it was the old brush and some DR white on the veins of the warp.

Since it's terrain, I think I'm going to stop here. I glued it all together and I watched a video where a guy glued felt to the bottom so it was softer on the table, so I'll probably do that at some point.

Warpgate Dice Tower

We'll, I've been putting off this one for a while!

This is a dice tower that you can purchase the STL files to 3D print from Dragon's Gate. I love the support they've been doing for Blackstone Fortress.

I surprisingly got way further than I expected, but that goes to show how powerful an airbrush can be!

Rebel Troopers Part 6

I have been slowly working on these pretty much every night since the last update, however, the highlights that I have been painstakingly doing are so minute I felt it wasn't even worth taking pics!

Here are the final pictures. We got a freak snowstorm, in October of all times, so I won't be able to put a matte varnish on it until the weather gets better, unfortunately. I'd like to put it in the case where it belongs!

Rebel Troopers Part 5

With the 2 squads, I have the camo done on both and I have done all the shading on the forest scheme. The camo scheme was not looking good until the wash went on! Trust the process....

Rebel Troopers Part 4

Second squad's base colours done! Going with more of an urban camo style with this group.

Rebel Troopers Part 3

All the base colours for squad 1 are done (forest camo scheme).

I'm actually enjoying painting these so far. The detail isn't to a GW standard, but I'm a Star Wars nerd and I'm pretty happy with the models thus far.

Rebel Troopers Part 2

Wow... it's been a long time since I painted. Truth be told, I did do some priming on other projects, but I ran into a snag as I've been waiting for the paint for this project to trickle into my mailbox.

I still don't have all the paints yet, but enough to get started. I am following Sorastro's guide and I'll be doing a forest camo theme for one squad and a city camo theme for the other.

Rebel Troopers Part 1

I'm actually really excited to paint these... for now! Two squads at the same time though...

I did three levels of priming on these for an end-result zenithal highlight. I primed them black, did grey at 45°, then white from the very top. If I was doing a monochrome scheme only, I'd be tempted to keep it just like this!

Primaris Intercessor vs. My Very First Model Part 2

Well, I power through this model tonight.

I'm mostly pleased about how it turned out. The colour choices I made in 2001 are just wack though!

I still need to matte finish the model... especially that red section on the back, but I think the idea comes across.

Primaris Intercessor vs. My Very First Model Part 1

I started playing miniature wargames with Warhammer 40,000 back in 2001. I came across my first ever model last month (I'm so glad/surprised I kept it).

Someone online suggested that I paint up a new model at my current painting skills. Challenge accepted!

I'm using CK Studio's airbrush method... I realised two firsts though:

1. First time painting an intercessor (wow!)
2. First time painting yellow.

There was a learning curve and I had to start over once.

It was looking really ugly and then I started the filter phase... I might have overdone it. However, I'm not doing Golden Demon here and I'll just keep trucking. It still will look better than back then!

And are we too washed out now?

Blitzbowl - Orcland Raiders Part 4

 And we're done!

I really think the basing saved the day... it was getting very drab, but the greens in the grass and the white-painted lines really come through.

Blitzbowl - Orcland Raiders Part 3

Wow, it's been a while. Went camping for a week and now back to school has ramped up (I'm a teacher).

I finished the models tonight minus transfers and basing. I'll do that hopefully tomorrow night?

Blitz Bowl - Orcland Raider Part 2

It's funny how much time it can take to put into 6 models! I only got the skin done tonight, but it took about 2 hours.

I did do two heavy washes in between the lighter shades to tone it down. I think they turned out quite alright!

Blitz Bowl - Orcland Raiders AND BLACK RECIPE

Well, I've been meaning to start on my Blitz/Blood Bowl armies for some time now. I got the Blitz Bowl set last summer and it's taken this long to get to it. It's only 6 models per side right?

Since I'm such a huge NFL fan, I've been wanting to connect my teams with the colour schemes of actual NFL teams and match the flavour for each team.

Of the teams I got:

Human team 1: Philadelphia Eagles
Human team 2: Atlanta Falcons (I have 2 human teams)
Elves: Seattle Seahawks (my favourite team!)
Dwarves: Minnesota Vikings
Skaven: Jacksonville Jaguars
Undead: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Orcs: Las Vegas Raiders

I've been working up to getting my black airbrush recipe tight, as I have Deathwatch and Ulthwé Eldar coming down the pike, so since I'm going Raiders, I have to get this perfected!

I think I did?!

1. Prime black
2. Vallejo Model Air Anthracite Grey all over
3. Mix (roughly half and half) of Daler Rowney Payne's Grey and Anthracite Grey - spray just the shadows
4. Vallejo Model Air Sea Grey - just the highlight areas
5. Vallejo Game Air Cold Grey - narrower highlighting
6. Vallejo Game Air Stonewall Grey - even narrower
7. I take a little mixing cup and I cover the bottom of it with Citadel Contrast Black Templar and then really really water it down with water. I filled my Patriot cup twice for these 6 models. I use a hairdryer in between each coat.

The Colour Team!

D&D - Gnome Monk Redux - Part 2

Managed to find some time to finish this bad boy off!

I'm super happy how it turned out. I just have to matte spray it, as the Vallejo black is really shiny.

Just in time, as the campaign starts in less than a week!

D&D - Gnome Monk Redux

I wasn't that happy with the other model, so I ordered one from a site called Hero Forge. Lots of customisation and then they 3D print it on a resin printer. This one was more of my vision for a gnome monk.

It was hard to pick a paint scheme... tempted to go with the Shaolin monk orange, thought about like a hermit desert scheme, but picked a blue in the end. I think I'll have some whites to go with it and some dark greys as belts and gloves.

I wasn't going to airbrush this, but my Krome was so so good. Love that brush. I decided to really do the CK method and trust the process through the 'ugly phase' and it totally panned out. I'm really happy with the tones, shades, highlights, etc. I don't usually take too many in-process pics, but I did today. I can't wait to finish it and I think we start the campaign next week!

D&D - Orc Fighter

I'm really not happy how this turned out. From arm's length, it looks pretty good, but of course, photographed up close, I'm not too thrilled.

The shield... ugh... I don't know how to shade stars! It looks blotchy. I probably wasn't going to glue it on anyway.
