Blitz Bowl - Orcland Raiders AND BLACK RECIPE

Well, I've been meaning to start on my Blitz/Blood Bowl armies for some time now. I got the Blitz Bowl set last summer and it's taken this long to get to it. It's only 6 models per side right?

Since I'm such a huge NFL fan, I've been wanting to connect my teams with the colour schemes of actual NFL teams and match the flavour for each team.

Of the teams I got:

Human team 1: Philadelphia Eagles
Human team 2: Atlanta Falcons (I have 2 human teams)
Elves: Seattle Seahawks (my favourite team!)
Dwarves: Minnesota Vikings
Skaven: Jacksonville Jaguars
Undead: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Orcs: Las Vegas Raiders

I've been working up to getting my black airbrush recipe tight, as I have Deathwatch and Ulthwé Eldar coming down the pike, so since I'm going Raiders, I have to get this perfected!

I think I did?!

1. Prime black
2. Vallejo Model Air Anthracite Grey all over
3. Mix (roughly half and half) of Daler Rowney Payne's Grey and Anthracite Grey - spray just the shadows
4. Vallejo Model Air Sea Grey - just the highlight areas
5. Vallejo Game Air Cold Grey - narrower highlighting
6. Vallejo Game Air Stonewall Grey - even narrower
7. I take a little mixing cup and I cover the bottom of it with Citadel Contrast Black Templar and then really really water it down with water. I filled my Patriot cup twice for these 6 models. I use a hairdryer in between each coat.

The Colour Team!

D&D - Gnome Monk Redux - Part 2

Managed to find some time to finish this bad boy off!

I'm super happy how it turned out. I just have to matte spray it, as the Vallejo black is really shiny.

Just in time, as the campaign starts in less than a week!

D&D - Gnome Monk Redux

I wasn't that happy with the other model, so I ordered one from a site called Hero Forge. Lots of customisation and then they 3D print it on a resin printer. This one was more of my vision for a gnome monk.

It was hard to pick a paint scheme... tempted to go with the Shaolin monk orange, thought about like a hermit desert scheme, but picked a blue in the end. I think I'll have some whites to go with it and some dark greys as belts and gloves.

I wasn't going to airbrush this, but my Krome was so so good. Love that brush. I decided to really do the CK method and trust the process through the 'ugly phase' and it totally panned out. I'm really happy with the tones, shades, highlights, etc. I don't usually take too many in-process pics, but I did today. I can't wait to finish it and I think we start the campaign next week!

D&D - Orc Fighter

I'm really not happy how this turned out. From arm's length, it looks pretty good, but of course, photographed up close, I'm not too thrilled.

The shield... ugh... I don't know how to shade stars! It looks blotchy. I probably wasn't going to glue it on anyway.

D&D - Gnome Monk

Man, this thing is so tiny, it's smaller than my thumbnail!

Obviously, I couldn't airbrush this. I'm not entirely happy with it because it doesn't look like what I envisioned, but I have another model coming that hopefully will look more the part.

D&D

I've never played D&D but I've always wanted to.

I recently joined a group and we had our character building session the other night and played one encounter.

I decided to go with a gnomish monk which will be interesting. I got this model from Stonehaven miniatures. I also got an elven ranger and a half-orc fighter as possible characters down the road (and funny enough, those two exact race and class are in this campaign!).

I also splurged and got a custom one from Hero Forge miniatures. It's 3D printed very finely but Ilif the rendered image on the screen comes to fruition, it'll be exactly what I envisioy character to be. I like this model but he doesn't have the quarterstaff that I want.

Terrain - More Platforms!

I think I'm starting to get the hang of airbrushing black. I still have a ways to go on the filter. I've been using roughly 1:1 black templars contrast with water. It might be a bit too much black.

Terrain - Platforms

It's been a while since I've painted!

My patriot airbrush went down and I only had detail airbrushes. So I spent some time assembling and trying to convert (not good at this yet).

I just got back from a camping trip (covered in mosquito bites) and the part I needed for my patriot was in my mailbox.

I've been trying to paint up some terrain that I printed from Warlayer. It's really good stuff. However, I got to find a quicker way to paint it... otherwise,

it'll take me forever!

Warhammer 40K - Necron Cryptek and Lychguard - Part 3

I finally got some painting time in tonight. I did a long session and got these guys finished (except for the bases)!

I'm pretty happy how they turned out... especially because I bought the Lychguard second hand and they were glued wrong (now fixed) and they were this really badly painted purple and black scheme.

Warhammer 40K - Necron Cryptek and Lychguard - Part 2

I managed to get to the next stage tonight... I did my original colour scheme like 5-6 years ago and I'm having a hard time remembering what greens I used on the gauss weapons. Good thing there's only one on that old 3rd ed. model.

Hopefully, only one more sitting to go.

Warhammer 40K - Necron Cryptek and Lychguard

So funny story.

I've sold pretty much all my 40k models over the past 2 weeks.

I didn't have the energy to start 9th. I'm barely playing and with the whole Necron line about to be redone (and about time), I didn't want to have to deal with buying a crap load of new models.

So, I sold all my Eldar, Space Marines, Dark Angels, Necrons and my Death Watch and Orks are still up for sale.

But, I kept all the full amounts of kill team models for each of these armies. I can manage that.

So this is all that is left for me to paint for my Necron kill team options (other than buying flayed ones).

I managed to dry brush and wash these guys.

Star Wars Legion - Stormtroopers Part 5

OMG! They're finally done!

I'm so happy! I was really pressing in once I got the recess edging done. I really like how they turned out.

I still have to matte varnish them and I think I'll paint on a gloss varnish on the white armour as well.

Star Wars Legion - Stormtroopers Part 4

I finally finished all that dark recess stuff. Man, how could I have believed that these would have been the easiest to paint! I still have 2 more squads of these guys that I'm definitely saving until last!

My favourite has to be the orange pauldron. I used Daler-Rowney orange after building it up with a mix of brown.

I think there are just gun highlights to go and then the bases... I hope that's it!
